Positive: Gorgeous house and very comfortable . Great location!
Negative: Would suggest a shower curtain in main bathroom to avoid so much water on the floor . Perhaps a grab rail in the shower area as well. Instructions to turn on the heat if needed.

Positive: Excellent! We stayed over at Johnson with a family of 6 people, and despite the relentless bad weather in Kerry, the experience was simply amazing. It's a very cozy and warm cottage in Brandon - the atmosphere made us feel relaxed with comfortable beds, a welcoming living area, and all the amenities we needed for a perfect family getaway! The attention to detail in the decor and furnishings added such a lovely touch. Even with the rain keeping us indoors, the cottage’s inviting vibe kept everyone in high spirits. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to create family memories. Highly recommend Johnson Cottage to anyone visiting Brandon!

Positive: Phenomenal staycation! We were blessed with amazing weather for Midsummer, but confident we still would have had a ball there even if the sun hadn't shone. House is incredible & also stocked with a massive collection of books, CDs & DVDs for anyone who prefers hunkering down on vacay. You want for nothing at Johnson's cottage facilities wise & the landscape views from any vantage point at the location are just stunning! We knew it would be hard leaving, so rebooked another trip there to look forward to again soon!

Positive: Lovely house, excellent location, the kitchen was really well stocked in terms of utensils, the bedrooms and the furnishings were all super comfortable. It was generally really nice Incredible scenery, and the Mount Brandon hike starting at the grotto was incredible, I'd highly recommend it to any avid hikers. A nice challenge and spectacular views
Negative: As much as I enjoyed this house and would love to say it was perfect, I feel obligated to highlight one concern. After booking, I received some emails from Sykes Holiday Cottages containing some instructions, details about the property, directions there etc, pretty standard stuff. Aside from one line, which stated that there was a €350 "good housekeeping bond" required for the property. This was not stated on the booking ahead of time. Now, to be clear, I was ultimately never charged for this. However, this did cause me quite a bit of stress ahead of the trip. My concern was twofold, the first element was that this was not mentioned on booking.com prior to my booking, which is, to the best of my understanding, illegal under Irish law. I googled the company and found out they're based in the UK. This wouldn't change the legality of it, to the best of my understanding, when a company operates within Ireland, they're still subject to the Consumer Protection Act 2007, but out of curiosity, I checked whether it would be legal under UK law (I was thinking perhaps this was a general email sent out to all properties and subsequently it was just a mistake that it was included for transactions in the EU). From what I read, it isn't legal under UK law either. My other source of concern was that there is an established way for hosts on this website to recover their losses should guests damage a property, and it's by using Booking.com's damage deposit or damage programme. This discloses the existence of the deposit and the amount ahead of payment (which would make it legal). This set up allows hosts to set and manage the deposits themselves, including allowing them to choose when it is collected. So there are no caveats as far as I could see, and it would inform guests ahead of booking, thus removing any murkiness about the legality. Given the existence of this option, it made the whole thing far more sketchy to me.
